Donegal Trip 2018 – Action Required
Hi all,
This year’s Donegal Hostel Trip is planned for the second week of June, travelling to Glenties in Donegal on Wednesday 13th, June and returning to Blackrock on Monday 18th. The trip is open to all members who are interested. For the 5th Formers this is their opportunity as their first club cycling trip away.
Confirm Your Place Now
Before the trip can be confirmed we need to ascertain the number of members committing to travel. All Members who would like to go on for the trip must confirm their wish to travel by Tuesday 15th May by sending an email to contact@willowwheelers.ie or confirming directly with Christy.
It may be difficult for some, given work commitments, to attend for the full duration of the trip so it may be possible to accommodate people attending for just part of the trip as long as there are enough adults to supervise any boys for the full trip and travel arrangements for the boys are organised.
You must confirm who will be travelling and exactly what dates you intend to travel so that accommodation and meal arrangements can be made. For insurance purposes anyone wishing to travel and cycle must be a current registered member of the Willow Wheelers and Cycling Ireland. If not already a Willow Wheelers member you can join online now here.
Donegal offers some stunning cycling and scenery and a large group from several year groups travelled last year and had a superb trip. Some pictures of lasts years trip are on the website here.
It is a hostel trip and Campbells Hostel in Glenties is exceptionally well run and provides excellent accommodation. Very good breakfasts and evening meals are included and taken in the Highland Hotel next door to the hostel and each day a good packed lunch is provided for the days cycling. We would be cycling Wednesday afternoon and Thursday thru Sunday. Monday is the return journey to Dublin normally with an excursion to Waterworld in Bundoran for the boys.
The cost of the trip will be around €400 but this depends on numbers and whether the club needs to organise transport (for boys and/or bikes). The club does have a bike trailer and if any member wishing to travel would be willing and able to tow the club bike trailer we would be extremely grateful could they please let us know.
Again, it is important that we have committed numbers to travel by next Tuesday 15thso we can confirm if the trip will go ahead and finalise the cost.
